Patricia de Nicolaï is the grand-daughter of Pierre Guerlain, the founder of Guerlain. She trained under Jean-Paul Guerlain, and later worked at two large fragrance companies, Firmenich and Quest. She established her own fragrance line, Parfums de Nicolaï, in 1989, and it has remained a family owned company.
